Welcome to Balinese Traditional Massage, as taught by Jero Tapakan. Traditional Balinese Massage is an ancient healing tradition from the island of Bali, Indonesia. Kirstie Bender Segarra, Ph.D., LMT, RMTI, ERYT has over 18 years of experience in Balinese Massage. She is a  Doctor of Integrative Medicine.

Kirstie Bender Segarra,Ph.D., LMT, RMTI, ERYT has dedicated her practice to the conservation of Balinese Traditional Massage. She is a full time faculty at the University of New Mexico-Taos where she started the Integrative Massage Therapy Program and co-designed the Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Kirstie is a full-time practitioner of Structural Integration, Movement Therapy and  Integrative Medicine. She has been practicing since 1996. She specializes in Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Myofascial Pain, Arthritis and Pre/Postpartum treatments.

She has developed and taught Myofascial Yoga™ and is currently developing a system of integrative health and systems theory in Fascial Health™. See The Monkey Institute for upcoming Continuing Education courses.

Kirstie is also President of Santosha Yoga a New Mexico Non-Profit where she teaches Myofascial Yoga™ weekly for seva (service to the community).

In conjunction with University of New Mexico-Taos she teaches continuing education in Balinese Traditional Massage.

Kirstie developed a DVD instructional workshop as well which preserves Jero Tapakan’s sequence. See DVD link above.

The Monkey Institute is where we offer continuing education workshops for massage therapists and yoga instructors.

Kirstie is excited to share her book released in August 2013. This is an instruction guide for movement and yoga therapists in Myofascial Yoga. It is the first book written on incorporating the Myofascial Meridians into asana. She is currently working on her second book on Deconstructing Asana and she will be presenting her pilot study results at the Fascial Congress in Fall of 2015.
